Dr. Sadia Afrin Mony is a Paediatrician, Neonatologist, Paediatric Intensivist, and Paediatric Cardiac Critical Care Specialist with extensive expertise in the management of critically ill neonates, infants, and children. Her clinical practice spans the full spectrum of paediatric care—from routine newborn and childhood health concerns to the most complex and life-threatening conditions requiring advanced intensive care support.

She currently serves as Associate Consultant in Paediatrics & Neonatology and Head of the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Apollo Imperial Hospital, Chattogram, Bangladesh. In this role, she leads a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing state-of-the-art critical care services and has played a pivotal role in the development and expansion of a modern Level IV Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, bringing advanced paediatric critical care capabilities closer to children and families in the region.

After completing her MBBS in and FCPS in Paediatrics, Dr. Mony pursued an intensive Clinical Fellowship in Paediatric Critical Care and Paediatric Cardiac Critical Care at the prestigious Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Kochi, India—one of South Asia’s leading tertiary care and academic institutions. During her fellowship, she received comprehensive training in advanced respiratory support, haemodynamic monitoring, paediatric cardiac intensive care, extracorporeal therapies, and the management of critically ill children with complex medical and surgical conditions.
Her fellowship training included extensive hands-on experience in:
* Advanced Mechanical Ventilation including HFOV and APRV
* Paediatric Cardiac Intensive Care
* Management of Complex Congenital Heart Disease
* Functional and Critical Care Echocardiography
* Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS)
* Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)
* Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)

* Bronchoscopic and Difficult Airway Intubation
* Central Venous Access and Advanced ICU Procedures
* Post-Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care

Dr. Mony has substantial experience managing critically ill children with severe respiratory failure, septic shock, congenital and acquired heart disease, neurological emergencies, multi-organ dysfunction syndrome, acute kidney injury, complex infections, and post-operative cardiac surgical conditions. Her expertise extends to neonatal intensive care, where she provides specialized management for premature infants, critically ill newborns, and high-risk neonatal conditions.
While her professional focus includes advanced critical care, she remains deeply committed to general paediatrics and preventive child healthcare. Every day, she cares for newborns, infants, children, and adolescents presenting with common childhood illnesses, growth and developmental concerns, feeding difficulties, respiratory infections, nutritional disorders, and routine health needs.
Known for her calm demeanor and compassionate approach, Dr. Mony understands the anxiety families experience when a child becomes unwell. Whether managing a critically ill child in the intensive care unit or evaluating a newborn in the outpatient clinic, she believes in clear communication, evidence-based decision-making, and family-centered care. She takes time to ensure parents understand their child's condition, treatment options, and long-term care plans, empowering them to participate confidently in healthcare decisions.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Mony is actively involved in medical education, research, and professional development. She is passionate about advancing paediatric critical care services in Bangladesh and regularly contributes to teaching initiatives for physicians, nurses, trainees, and healthcare professionals.
